Follow up Questions
Here are some examples of follow up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “Describe a tall building in your city you like or dislike”.
1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in tall buildings
As per my opinion, the primary benefit of spending time in tall buildings is the high availability of daylight and cross ventilation. Moreover, the residents get an aerial view of the city. The upper floors experience less noise as compared to lower floors. On the contrary, the major pitfall is the peril of unforeseen contingencies like fires and damages due to earthquakes. Apart from this getting inside and going out of your apartment takes substantial time.
2. Do you think there will be more tall buildings in the future?
There is no denying this conviction that land is scarce. Therefore, with rising populations and shrinking land space available, paving the way for high-rise buildings would be prudent.
3. Why aren’t there many tall buildings in the countryside?
The preponderant reason for the lack of tall buildings in the hinterland parts is too much land space availability. Hence erecting a tall structure doesn’t make sense in such kinds of places.
4. Why do some people like to live in tall buildings nowadays?
The prime reason is that apartments in such buildings are available at a reasonable cost. Whereas for an independent house or a villa a person needs to shell a lot of wherewithal from his/her pocket.Due to this reason tall structures are gaining prominence.
