Sample Answer 1

Introduction:

Although there are numerous tall buildings in my city, one skyscraper has carved a niche for itself and is far ahead of others in terms of style and utility.

Where it is? and

This building lies in the central part of the city. The name of this building is IT Tower.

What it is used for?

This building is a blessing for the software industry. More than one thousand software engineers and developers work over here.

What it looks like?

Its design is simple but unique. Unlike other tall buildings, no such fancy work is there on the elevation.

Explain why you like or dislike it?

I like this building for its utility. Being a nature-loving person, I firmly believe that all citizens should join hands to undo the environmental damage done by us.

This building has set the right precedent to save our environment. To do so, the designers of this building have used solar planes for the window panes instead of glass. Due to this unique feature, this building generates energy for its usage from solar power.

To extract maximum solar energy, the architects have left no stone unturned. They have given it such a shape that is conducive to make effective use of the sunlight.

Due to this out of the box thinking, this massive structure has carved a niche for itself.

During the construction process, many experts expressed apprehensions regarding the success of this tower. However, five years have passed, and all companies inside this tower are getting seamless power supply at a minimal cost.

Sample Answer 2

Introduction:

Being a voracious traveller, I regularly see numerous buildings with distinct designs, modern as well as traditional. However, there is one tall building that caught my attention. Today I would like to discuss that building.

Where it is? and What it is used for?

And it is the building of VR Punjab shopping mall that is in city Mohali

Last month while holidaying in Mohali with my buddies, I planned to have a look at this shopping plaza which in reality is an architectural marvel and when we arrived there, we got mesmerized because of the elevation to the interior it is a masterpiece with state of the art infrastructure.

What it looks like,? And explain why you like or dislike it?

The peculiar feature of this building is elevation. The architect has made perfect use of glass that looks enticing and blends perfectly with the colour of the building.

Apart from this, the designer has left no stone unturned while designing the interior of this building. The design is column-based, due to this reason, the inside area looks enormous in size. On the top of the layout is designed in a consummate manner by seasoned construction engineers.

The lower levels of this building showcase the renowned brands, where people can find an array of products for shopping at one place and purchase apparel, footwear, electronics and electrical products, and household items. And the upper levels have leisure options like multiplex, eateries, gaming stations.

Conclusion:

To conclude, this building has sufficient arrangements for the entertainment of people from all walks of life.

Follow up Questions

Here are some examples of follow up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “Describe a tall building in your city you like or dislike”.

1. What are the advantages and disadvantages of living in tall buildings

As per my opinion, the primary benefit of spending time in tall buildings is the high availability of daylight and cross ventilation. Moreover, the residents get an aerial view of the city. The upper floors experience less noise as compared to lower floors. On the contrary, the major pitfall is the peril of unforeseen contingencies like fires and damages due to earthquakes. Apart from this getting inside and going out of your apartment takes substantial time.

2. Do you think there will be more tall buildings in the future?

There is no denying this conviction that land is scarce. Therefore, with rising populations and shrinking land space available, paving the way for high-rise buildings would be prudent.

3. Why aren’t there many tall buildings in the countryside?

The preponderant reason for the lack of tall buildings in the hinterland parts is too much land space availability. Hence erecting a tall structure doesn’t make sense in such kinds of places.

4. Why do some people like to live in tall buildings nowadays?

The prime reason is that apartments in such buildings are available at a reasonable cost. Whereas for an independent house or a villa a person needs to shell a lot of wherewithal from his/her pocket.Due to this reason tall structures are gaining prominence.
