 What is the news about? 

  • The recent international news which I have heard is regarding a European country by the name of Norway.
  • This country has planned to go for a paradigm shift to control pollution.
  • It has decided to stop the running of petrol and diesel-run vehicles from the year 2015.
  • Hence only electric cars would ply on the roads of Norway from 2025 onwards.

Where and when you heard it? 

  • Last week while watching the CNN news channel, I heard this news.

Explain how you felt about this piece of international news?

  • This news made me happier because, being a nature-loving person, I want the environment to remain clean.
  • The step taken by the Norwegian higher authorities would pave the way for environmental reforms.
  • There is no denying this conviction that electric vehicles do not cause much pollution.
  • With the complete ban on petrol and diesel-run cars, people would have no option but to use electric automobiles.
  • Due to this change, our cities would become less polluted.
  • People would encounter fewer health issues, and our dependence on fossil fuels would decline.
  • Moreover, this initiative would set the right precedent for other nations too.
  • If this initiative is successful, other countries would also try to follow it.
  • Because the whole world knows that pollution is a grave concern.
  • We need to adopt stringent yardsticks to curb pollution.
  • Hence this practice would make our world a better place where there would be less contamination.
