Introduction

  • In this contemporary epoch, technology has made inroads in our life.
  • Due to this, getting lost is a rare scenario these days.
  • A few years back, getting lost used to be a usual thing.

When did it happen?

  • Ten years back, I went to Singapore for a pleasure trip.
  • There I was part of a group of 20 people.
  • Most of them were my friends.
  • While doing sightseeing, I got detached from my group.
  • In pursuit of finding my friends, I reached a suburb of Singapore where most people were communicating in their native language.
  • Unfortunately, I was not having my mobile phone with me.
  • Moreover, I forgot the name of my hotel too, where I was staying.

What did you do?

  • I ran from pillar to post to find someone who could speak in English so that I could make understand that person my plight.
  • To my dismay, all my efforts went in vain. 
  • Since I was roaming here and there is a confused manner.
  • I managed to grab the attention of a policeman.
  • He took me to his office and made me talk to his senior, who had sufficient knowledge of the English language.
  • He listened to my ordeal and sent his two officials with me to look for the hotel where I was staying
  • I had a faint idea about the outlook of the hotel
  • After roaming here and there for two hours, we managed to find the hotel.
  • When I had met my friends after 10 hours, I had a sigh of relief.

How you felt about

  • The whole experience was quite scary, and once I thought that I would never be able to make contact with my group.
  • But all is well that ends well.
  • During this frightening experience, I got a feel of the culture of Singapore.
  • Moreover, I gained experience in handling the conflicts adroitly.
