  • Being a workaholic person, I feel happy whenever I remain busy.
  • However, I feel bored whenever I have to sit idle.

When it was?

  • Last year due to the corona pandemic, the government of my country imposed a strict lockdown.
  • Due to that, I had to sit at home for six months.
  • The first three months of that period were monotonous for me.

Who you were with?

  • My parents and my younger sister was there with me during that period,

What you were doing?

  • Since I was not allowed to go out of my township, I spent most of the time inside the township.
  • I would play games on my computer, watch web series, and eat a lot.
  • In short, I became a couch potato.

Why you felt bored?

  • The preponderant reason for feeling bored was that I did not have too much productive work to do.
  • When we move from our home for any purpose, our life becomes dynamic.
  • Because we get a chance to meet a lot of people, from whom we learn new things.
  • Then we try those things and add dynamism to our lives.
  • Whereas when we sit at home, our life becomes mundane.,because we do not get a chance to experience new things.
  • By performing the same tasks every day, we get into a vicious circle, often finding it difficult to get out of that.
  • The same happened to me. For the first few days, the leisure time I had was a blessing for me.
  • But later on, it turned out to be a nightmare.
  • So that period of six months can be termed as the most boring time of my life.

Introduction

Being a busy person, I do not experience boredom in my life. However, recently I felt bored at a party.

When it was?

Last month one of my friends invited me to the retirement party of his father. During that function, I felt bored.

Who you were with?

Although there were around 100 guests, excepts my friend, all others were strangers to me.

What you were doing?

Initially, I was sitting alone. But later on, many people joined me. Since I was quiet, the other guests started discussing different topics with me, such as politics, environment etcetera.

Why you felt bored?

The main reason for feeling bored was that I didn’t have the right company at that party. Most of the guests were twice my age, so their topics of discussion were way different.

Moreover, politics is one topic in which I am least interested. However, the topic of discussion during the function was the current political scenario in our state and nation.

My disinterest was visible from my body language, yet the other persons continued with the discussion.

Leaving the party was not a viable option for me because it could have jeopardized my friendship. So I did not have any other choice but to listen to the most boring topics.

In between, I took a nap which nobody noticed. However, the guffaws of laughter generated by the crowd disturbed my sleep.

After two hours, the discussion became overly monotonous because it shifted to the politics inside our city. And, the participants were pondering over the same points again and again.

Finally, when the party ended, I had a sigh of relief.

Introduction

Since my childhood, I have tended to remain busy all the time. Due to this reason, I feel bored whenever I do not indulge in work.

When it was?

Last year my brother invited me to spend some days with him. He joined a new job, and he was feeling homesick. Due to this reason, I went to his place to spend few days with him. I spent two weeks over there. And the jadedness I experienced there would always remain etched in my memories.

Who you were with?

I didn’t have any company, except my brother, during that period.

What you were doing?

The place I stayed in was an industrial area. Due to pollution, It was not viable for me to go out. Hence I remained indoors for two weeks.

Why you felt bored?

The reason for feeling bored was loneliness. My brother used to leave for work at 8 am, and he would come back at 9 pm. So for 13 hours in a day, I had no company.

Apart from this, there was no park, garden or shopping mall in that area, where one could spend leisure time.

Another flaw was the poor network connectivity. Internet speed was well below the standards. Due to that, I remain disconnected from social media too.

Although there was a television in the room, due to frequent power cuts, I used to play it occasionally.

Due to this reason, the two weeks spent at my brother’s place seemed like two years to me. And I felt bored over there.
