IELTS CUE CARD TOPIC

Describe a film you watched or Describe a film that impressed you a lot
You should say:

  • When and where you watched it?
  • What was the movie about?
  • Why you chose to watch it?
  • How you felt about it? and explain why it made you think a lot?

Sample 1

Although I have watched numerous films, one has greatly impressed me. This movie’s name is Three Idiots, and I watched it five years back in the theatre with a few of my friends. This movie is about three friends who are engineers and share a perfect relationship. However, one wants to be a wildlife photographer but does not pursue his dreams due to his father’s wish.

So, the protagonist convinces him to follow his passion, and that person becomes a perfect wildlife photographer. Another friend is good in the engineering field, but he is a fearful person.

So, the main character removes his fear through different strategies, and all three come out as successful persons. So I watched it by reading many reviews because this movie tells you how to pursue life.

In this movie, the main character, whenever he is in a problem, says to himself that all is well. So that means everything is in control and how the worries would go for a toss soon. I felt perfect after watching the movie because the message given in the film is through comedy. So, I had guffaws of laughter while watching the movie and learned a lot.

It made me think a lot because, in our lives, we have this uncanny knack for worrying about trivial issues that are not big problems by saying to ourselves that all is well; we can come out of those issues.

Sample 2

Being a busy person, I do not watch films. However, whenever I get free time, then I go for that. I watched one movie, and it impressed me a lot. That’s why it’s worth discussing.

I watched it in a movie theatre three years back. The movie is about the life of a person named Milkha Singh, who had a humble beginning, and despite that, he had spectacular success in his life.

I chose to watch it because, during that time, I was going through a lean phase, and I wanted to see how Milkha Singh fought with hard circumstances to achieve success in his life.

I felt very good about watching the movie because it tells us that to gain success, you need not have the best resources in your hands. The possible course of action you must take is to get the best out of whatever you have.

This movie makes me think a lot because whenever I go through a tough situation, I seek flashes of inspiration from the life of Milkha Singh to lead my career towards an impressive growth trajectory.

Sample 3

As a movie enthusiast, I enjoy watching films of different genres, and one stands out in my memory. It’s a movie called Ramanujan, which I watched two years ago in a theater.

The film portrays the life of a renowned Indian mathematician named Ramanujan, a prodigy from a young age who could easily do complex calculations. However, despite his talent, he needed to get the recognition he deserved in India.

He wrote letters to a famous mathematician in England, who invited him to come to England, where he did remarkable work. Unfortunately, due to his strict vegetarian diet, he couldn’t find the food of his choice in England, and his health deteriorated rapidly, leading to his untimely death. His talent, however, lives on, and his work is still in use.

Watching this movie made me realize that having talent is not enough; you need a platform and support to showcase it. The authorities must look for people with hidden talents and provide them with opportunities to improve the world by solving its problems
