Introduction

There is no denying this conviction that we usually become impatient while waiting. I have had one instance where I patiently waited for a moment to come.

When did it happen?

It happened one year back.

What was the nice thing?

The nice thing was the arrival of my elder brother from overseas.

How long have you waited?

I waited for two years for that day to come.

Why did you wait for a long time?

I waited for a long time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Five years back, my elder brother went to Canada to pursue higher education, and once he completed his course, he wanted to return to India to meet family members.

However, destiny had some different plans. Just two days before the scheduled flight to India, the administration of Canada announced a lockdown because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the flight was cancelled.

We thought that the situation would become normal soon, but the pandemic spread rapidly worldwide, so all international travel came to a standstill.

After one year, the situation became normal, and the flights resumed, but at that time, there was a huge rush of people who wanted to come to India from Canada. Due to that, my brother got the ticket with 1 year waiting period.

Finally, his turn came, and he came to India. And for his arrival, I waited for two years.

Explain how you felt about the experience.

The experience was painful because my brother is the apple of my eye, and not meeting him for a long time was challenging. Finally, when I met him, I sighed in relief and celebrated his arrival with pomp and show.

1. When do people have to wait for a long time?

As far as my country is concerned, people have developed this habit of waiting for most things, such as public transport, financial services institutions, religious places, and public offices. It is because my nation has the most pollution in the world that is why queues are everywhere.

2. What do people do while waiting?

In this modern era, due to the advent of electronic devices and social media, people have many activities to do. Firstly, many people watch videos on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Apart from that, many people play games like Pubg and Free Fire. Moreover, some people like to talk to their near and dear ones through their phones while waiting.

3. Are most people patient while waiting?

Since waiting has become an integral part of our lives, most people have developed the patience for waiting. However, a section of society still has this habit of getting things done in a jiffy, so such people become impatient while waiting.

4. Do you like to wait for a long time? Why?

Although I am a patient person, working for a long time makes me a patient because I consider time to be the most important asset at our disposal, and when it goes to waste for no rhyme or reason, I feel irritated.

5. Why do most children have difficulties waiting for a long time?

Most children these days run after instant gratification because they are born in an era where things are available in a short period compared to the past. Due to this, getting things done instantly has become a part of their routine, and when they have to wait for a long time, they become impatient and start throwing tantrums.

6. Do people queue while waiting for the subway train?

Yes, because it has become their habit. When we wait at a subway station, it is worthwhile to stand in the queue because otherwise, there would be chaos, and the quality time would go for a toss as only a few would be able to board the train, and the rest would wait for the next.

Due to this reason, some people do it consciously, and the rest do it subconsciously.

7. Do you think patience is necessary?

Patience is an unsung hero for success because most things take time, and we spoil them by trying to fasten the process. That is why sufficient patience in handling our conflicts is prudent.

It is difficult for children to be patient because, in their budding years, they do not understand the significance of being patient.

9. How to teach children patience?

Parents and educators need to work in tandem to teach children patience. Firstly, it is the bounden duty of the parents to exhibit patience while doing daily chores as this will pust children to remain calm and wait. There is no denying this conviction that children do not follow their parent’s advice. They follow their examples.

Moreover, the teachers should organize awareness camps in schools to teach the students the rewarding benefits of showing patience in their daily lives. The raised awareness will help many students use the power of patience to lead their lives toward an impressive growth trajectory.

10. Would you quickly feel angry when you wait for a long time?

Earlier, I used to feel angry, but now I have learned the art of waiting with patience in most cases. However, if someone willfully does so with me, I feel cheated, and I exhibit anger on such occasions.

11. Have you ever been late for meeting someone?

I will reach out before the meeting because I value others’ time. However, sometimes, due to unforeseen contingencies, it is not feasible to reach in time. On such occasions, I apologize for my delay.
