Introduction

There is no denying this conviction that, as a kid, we run almost daily; however, with growing age, our tendency to run declines. Recently I encountered a situation when I had to run due to an unforeseen contingency.

When was it? And Where was it?

I was back at a hill station one year to enjoy the holiday post exams. During that time, the corona pandemic was making inroads in our nation. The local administration announced a stringent lockdown as the number of infected people increased.

Suddenly, the news spread like wildfire, and the city was in chaos. During that time, the hotel manager advised me to leave for my hometown as soon as possible, but to my dismay, no taxi was available.

I was in a state of absolute disarray, but a ray of hope came when the hotel manager informed me that the last bus for my city was about to leave in half an hour. I immediately packed my backpack and ran to the bus stand; the distance was just 3 kilometres.

How challenging was it?

Although the distance was not substantial, the task was challenging because I had to run uphill. Moreover, I was carrying a heavy backpack on my back. However, as I didn’t have any other option, I ran with determination and dedication. My hard work paid off, and I caught the bus on time.

How did you feel about it?

The whole experience was painful, but in the end, when I got the desired result, I had a sigh of relief.

Q4.How can we encourage people to run?

We can encourage people to run by telling them the umpteen benefits they get from running because it is a competition for exercise, which enhances our physical and mental fitness.
