Follow-ups

Here are some follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “Describe a popular/well-known person in your country”.

Q1. What are the qualities of being famous?

Famous people are of two types. Firstly, humble people take their popularity as a blessing and try to use their stardom to solve the pressing problems of society. The south superstar Rajnikant is a prime example of this, as he provides unabated support to the people of his state.

The second category is those who show attitude and take their stardom for granted. Such people misbehave with their fans and have this uncanny knack for throwing tantrums whenever they do not get enough attention.

Q2. Do you know any famous star who likes helping other people?

Vivek Oberoi is a famous Bollywood actor. He provides help to needy people. He is the first to support the affected people whenever there is a natural calamity. During the Tsunami of 2004, he adopted four villages and provided all kinds of support.

Q3. Do you think children should imitate their idols?

There is no harm in imitating the idols, but that should be limited because excess of everything is terrible. Moreover, they must refrain from copying those who have a horrible image in society, like superstars who endorse tobacco products.

Q4. What influence do famous stars have on teenagers?

In the teenage years, the children are in the developing stage. They run after instant gratification during this time and stay away from delayed gratification.

Famous stars have a tremendous influence on teenagers. They endorse the good as well as bad qualities of their favourites. Their clothes, hairstyles, etc., are copies of their loved celebrities.

Q5. Do you think famous stars have more freedom or less freedom?

I think famous stars have less freedom because wherever they go, people follow them for autographs and pictures. So taking a walk or eating their favourite mouth-watering delicacy in a public place is a daunting task for them.

Apart from this, paparazzi photographers also run after them to have a click.

Q6.Have you taken the autograph of a famous person?

I vividly remember when I was in school, the famous Indian rapper You Yo Honey Singh came to our school. He enthralled the audience by singing hip-shaking songs, and I had a gala time that day. Although there was a considerable crowd, due to my persistent efforts, I reached out to him and put his autograph in my school diary.

7. Do you wish to be a famous person?

Yes, I wish to be famous because that would help me get the much-needed name and fame I crave. Since childhood, I have had this urge to become well-known by leading my career towards an impressive growth trajectory.
