Describe an indoor or outdoor place where it is easy for you to study

  • Where it is
  • What it is like
  • When you go there
  • What you study there
  • And explain why you would like to study in this place

Sample 1

Learning is an activity that needs to be done in a calm environment, and I cannot study in a place where there is a lot of hustle and bustle. Apart from this, studying indoors does not always work for me, so I like to study in an outdoor place with less noise, and one such place is very close to my residence.

It’s a park, and its name is the neighbourhood garden. It is in the heart of the city, but there is less population nearby, so it does not have much crowd. It is a calm and clean place. The maintenance staff cleans it every morning, and there are benches and tables.

There is a good environment where we can study outdoors. I go there in the morning because, after 9 a.m., there is not much crowd there, so I can study there comfortably, and I study mostly those subjects in which I struggle.

Sometimes, it takes a lot of effort to understand a concept, so studying in the park works like a charm for me because it helps me align with nature. Those complicated concepts I can decipher easily whenever I am in the park.

Apart from that, another good thing is that there is a small cafeteria inside the park, so in case I feel hungry or stressed after studying, I go there and have a cup of tea or coffee to feel refreshed.

This park has a special place in my heart because two years ago, when I struggled with my studies, my father recommended that I visit the park for regular studies. His suggestion worked like a charm for me, bringing a paradigm shift in my learning ability. So, studying in this park has always been an emotionally enriching experience for me.

Follow-ups

Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card: “Describe an indoor or outdoor place where it is easy for you to study”.

1. Why do you like to learn independently or with others?

I like to learn with others because loneliness becomes so boring, and it does not feel exciting or something new to learn when studying in a group or with friends. So we can enhance our studies or learn more about that particular thing. So we should, or I prefer to study in a group because new ideas come in that while studying alone makes you feel stressed, and you cannot share your ideas with anyone.

While studying in a group, if you have problems or questions, you can discuss them with your friends, and they can help you make solid decisions.

2. What is the difference between learning face-to-face with the teacher and learning by yourself?

Learning yourself means I learn by myself from reading books or searching the internet while learning face-to-face from the teacher means if I have a query, the teacher can give me the answers, and they solve the problem. But while I am studying on my own, I can just solve the problems through my opinion only, like from my mind only. So the better option is so from when we learn ourselves because that is most important. The teacher can make you learn more and more questions, but in the end, you have to learn yourself.

3. Do you prefer to study at home or elsewhere?

I like to prefer study at home because studying in other places does not give me that environment. I feel more secure and more concentrated at home, so I prefer to study at home.

4. What are the benefits of gaining work experience while studying?

If you gain work experience while studying, it makes you something extraordinary because when you go for a job, you have completed your degree or your studies. With that, you have extra work experience, which every job offers. So you can get a more high profile job. So it’s a good thing to do both the studies and the job.

5. Do most people like to study in a noisy place?

No, I don’t think so. People like to study in a noisy place because it does not make them concentrate on their studies, and I also do not prefer to study in a noisy place. A silent and calm place can make a person study very concentrated. So we should study in a quiet place, not a noisy place.

6. What are the advantages and disadvantages of studying with other people?

I think studying with other people is a very nice thing because we do not feel bored and we can express our views with others and communicate with each other and share our ideas.  Studying alone makes you feel scared, bored, and stressed.
