Sample Answer

In this modern era, inflation has grown by leaps and bounds. For this reason, many people make a lot of calculations and try various sources to buy goods at low prices. One of my friends is an expert at this. So, this person likes to buy everything at a low cost, be it a food item, anything related to clothing, or sometimes computers.

So this person likes to buy things online and is quite good at searching for products online. So rather than buying products from the same website every time, he buys from different places to purchase the goods at cheap prices. He has made a WhatsApp group and has a big list of friends with credit cards from other companies and debit cards. So whenever a new offer comes with a cashback on a credit card, he contacts that friend with that bank’s credit card or debit card to get the maximum discount.

Moreover, he has some 5-6 phones with him. So whenever a new app comes for shopping, he creates an account to grab the early bird offers and uses different phones to hold the same deal multiple times. It is how he gets the goods at low prices and likes cheap goods because Andrew had a humble beginning.

He lost his father when he was just six years old. So, he has spent a lot of his life in poverty. That’s why he knows the value of money and believes that things are highly priced for no reason.

That is why shelling out a lot of money to buy the products is imprudent. He leaves no stone unturned to find products and services at low prices and is quite good at it. Sometimes, I even seek flashes of inspiration from him and try to look at various websites to find the best deal.

Follow-ups

Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “Describe a person who likes to buy goods with low prices”.

1. What are the differences between shopping in a shopping mall and in a street market?

Shopping in a shopping mall is much more expensive and luxurious. Shopping in the street market allows you to buy something you like within your budget because you can bargain with the sellers. In malls, you cannot do these things, and your budget cannot be according to you.

2. Which is more commonly visited in India, such as shopping malls or street markets?

Most people nowadays prefer to do street shopping because the same things are available on the streets at lower prices. While malls are a very nice environment, and there are luxurious and expensive things, they are not in most people’s budget in India, so people prefer to do street shopping.

3. Is advertising important?

Advertising is sometimes necessary because nobody knows about the person who is advertising something. However, if the person is doing very well, advertisement is not essential; preferences make the person more successful.

4. What are the disadvantages of shopping in a street market? The disadvantages of shopping in a street market are that there is too much noise and traffic, and people are more clumsy there. So shopping in street markets makes you feel tired, and you do not feel like you are just bargaining and getting low-priced things. So we should not prefer street shopping.

5. How do you buy cheap products?

Firstly, we will ask about the price of the item. After listening to that, we calculated and found out the cost of the thing was, in my opinion. Then, we should bargain about that thing to buy it at a lower cost.

6. Do you think things are more expensive in big shopping malls?

Yes, I think things are more expensive in big shopping malls because the same thing is available in street shops at meagre prices.
