Sample 1

Being an ardent sports lover, I admire numerous successful sports persons. One of them is special and hence is worth mentioning. He is none other than the erstwhile captain of Indian cricket team, Mr. Virat Kohli.

I know a lot about him because I have been following him for many years. In real life, he’s a very gentle person. He’s a very humble person.

Despite so much success, he attends everyone with a graceful smile on his face. And there are numerous achievements which he has made and out of that. The first one is that he has maintained a lot of fitness.

Before his entry into the international cricket, in Indian cricket team, fitness culture was not there. The players were good at their respective fields, but they were not that much athletic. But Virat Kohli brought a paradigm shift in their performance by setting the right precedent.

So first he improved his physical attributes by following a very different kind of diet regime and then a very different kind of fitness lifestyle. And following his footsteps, other cricketers also started emulating him. And due to that, the performance of whole Indian team improved considerably.

And his biggest achievement was that India was unable to beat Australia in a series in Australia for about 40 years. But under his captaincy, India achieved this feat. And I admire him because of his determination, dedication and discipline.

He has remained disciplined in his life and he’s a role model for the future generation. Whether people are working in entertainment fields, sports fields or education fields, they follow the lifestyle of Virat Kohli to lead their life towards an impressive growth trajectory.

Follow-ups

1.Should students have physical education and do sports at school?

In my opinion, yes, students must have physical education and do sports at school because a healthy mind lives in a healthy body. Focusing entirely on studies is not productive, as it declines your mental ability and can lead to obesity if you do not engage in sports. Moreover, sports teach various lessons, such as how to work in a team, how to handle opposition, and how to deal with difficult situations in life.

Therefore, it should be a combination of both. Your entire time should not be devoted to studies, and your entire time should not be devoted to sports. Rather, it should be a judicious balance of both sports and studies.

2.What qualities should an athlete have?

The first and foremost quality an athlete should have is stamina, because no matter how good you are at performing in your respective sports field, if you do not have stamina, you cannot sustain for long, and your chances of failure are high.

Apart from that, an athlete should also be a good reader. It is not just about performing in the sport; it is also about reading and understanding what is happening in that sport throughout the world so that he or she can gain valuable insights from others. Not only should an athlete read about sports, but he or she should also research what others are doing.

Additionally, an athlete should take good care of his or her body. This means avoiding the consumption of liquor and tobacco, and maintaining a well-regulated diet.

These qualities are important for any athlete.

3.Is talent important in sports?

Yes, talent is important in sports because it helps you lead your career toward an impressive growth trajectory. However, to sustain success in the long term, one must also have other qualities like determination, dedication, and discipline. Without these, even the most talented athletes can fail.

For example, Vinod Kambli, the cricketer, had immense talent, but his poor lifestyle habits led to his downfall. On the contrary, Sachin Tendulkar, who was considered less naturally talented than Kambli, achieved extraordinary success because he lived a disciplined life and stayed away from unnecessary limelight.

4.Is it easy to identify children’s talents?

No, identifying children’s talents is a daunting task because their attention span is very short. Moreover, they are mostly engaged in activities that bring instant gratification. As a result, children usually do not work on a particular field for a long time, which makes it difficult to recognize their true abilities.

It is only in the case of children who are patient and consistently work on one field for an extended period that their talent becomes easier to identify.

5.What is the most popular sport in your country?

Although many sports are played in my country, such as hockey, volleyball, football, lawn tennis, table tennis, and badminton, cricket is the most popular among them. This is because a large section of society actively plays cricket, and also because the Indian cricket team is currently one of the best in the world. These factors make cricket the most loved and followed sport in India.

6.Why are there so few top athletes?

Although there are many athletes worldwide, only a few reach the top level. This is because being a successful athlete requires a high level of determination, dedication, and discipline. In addition, athletes must have excellent stamina and a strong physique, as the chances of injury in sports are quite high. Many talented individuals are unable to reach the top because injuries cut their careers short, causing them to lose opportunities.
