  • How you knew this place
  • What it is like
  • And explain why it is better than other places to live in

Sample 1

Well, I would like to visit a place that is perfect for people to live in Chandigarh. It is a combined UT in India, Punjab, Haryana, and both. I know this place as I visited it two years ago.

It is a fantastic place to see and live. It is not so expensive, but the land rates are high here. It is not congested like other big cities like Delhi and Chennai but is a perfect place to roam around and see. It has many opportunities for your life and is also good for studying. Many of India’s top universities are situated in Chandigarh only.

Life in Chandigarh is perfect. The people here are beneficial and nice. They don’t think of anybody as a stranger and help each other. Chandigarh is a vast city. It also has a tri-city around it: Mohali, Panchkula, and Zirakpur.

These three towns are also perfect places to live, and they are not as expensive as Chandigarh, which is the most costly of the three. All of these locations are very good to live in. They all provide us with lots of education and facilities, which is very good. These places also have a lot of greenery and aren’t congested like other places. So I think this place is better because it is good and not crowded.

Sample 2

The place I like most is Chandigarh, a green city. It is a good place to study and find a job. It has many green parks and is also a clean city. It has bus transportation and Uber services.

It has many colleges, restaurants, and daily-needs shops where we can buy our products. It has a smaller population and less pollution, and I learned about this place in school. It has many tourist attractions, such as Sukhna Lake, Rock Garden, Capital Complex, and Leisure Valley. We can also go shopping in malls while living in this city.

It has a significant market in sectors 22 and 19. It also has many religious places, like Mansa Devi temple, Sohana Gurdwara, and other Sikh religious places. It has a good culture, and people mainly live in apartments in this city. We can also explore the city while riding a bicycle because many tracks are made for cyclists. It has many traffic lights and a speed limit of 60 for vehicles.

It also offers online services. Chandigarh is a planned city with an ongoing metro project. It has a good IT sector, and the government invites companies to build offices there. Last, I want to say that living here gives us peace of mind and an outstanding work-life balance.

Sample 3

In my opinion, the place suitable for people to live in is Mohali, which comes under the state of Punjab; it has excellent infrastructure and various historical places; some of the famous places of Mohali are Sohana Gurudwara and CP67 mall, which has a wide range of hotels and markets like Phase 3b2 market and Radisson hotel.

My family was residing in Bilaspur, Himachal Pradesh. We shifted to Mohali in 2019 after my 12th exams were over; we bought a new house in Sec-114 Mohali and travelled a lot to explore this beautiful city. We visited many markets near the airport road and did lots of shopping.

Mohali is known for its PCA stadium, where all national and international cricket matches are played, and a vast audience comes to see this during these matches.

In each society, a large marketplace sells food items, groceries, clothes and other home decor items. Also, many parks have green environments that help me relax and roam around; I usually play cricket with my friends in these parks, which are well-maintained for children to play.

This city has various schools like St. Mary School, AKSIPS school, Gurukul Global School, Ryan International School, and many more, and it has a sound education system and excellent infrastructure. Many students have become toppers from these schools and have shined in Tricity.

Now we will talk about public transport facilities in the city. At every minute, buses travel through each bus stop that runs on electricity, reducing air pollution; the town has Uber services that help people travel from one place to another. This city also has industrial infrastructure, such as IT companies, agro-based companies, verka plants, and many more.

Also, it has an international airport with domestic and international flights, helping people travel from one place to another at affordable prices. It is much better than other cities like Delhi and Bangalore because it has a good water and electricity supply and less pollution than other cities. One must visit this city at least once in their lifetime.

Follow-ups

Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “Describe a place (city/town) that is good for people to live in”.

1. What are the differences between cities and towns?

The big difference between cities and towns is that cities have significant buildings, more malls, and shops, while villages have just houses, fields, trees, etc. Hence, the views and the people are different.

People in cities are more concerned about their work; they like doing jobs and studying. In rural areas, people have to do household chores, and they have to be in the fields and do the work of farming.

2. What has happened to your country’s towns and villages in recent years?

Towns have also shifted towards the more modern world, and the villages are now not that rural in new times. The villages are also turning into cities because most business people are approaching the village land to open new companies. After all, the land is not too costly there.

People are opening new malls, buildings, and flats and building buildings there, so the villages are also growing now. Everybody has electricity, water, and mobile phone technology; everything is now available in the villages.

3. What are the differences between big cities and small ones?

Big cities have as buildings, most luxurious houses and the celebrities and the big business people live in the big cities and the small towns sometimes the middle-class people can also live there in like just tiny houses, small buildings, there are not too many big malls just like simple grocery shop and stationery shops are there.

4. What factors will contribute to whether a place is good to live in?

A place to live in should be secure. First, it should have nearby shops, grocery stores, or shopping so that everything is available nearby. The land should also not be too expensive.

5. What are the significant changes that have happened in your city?

The significant changes that have happened in my city are that there are now more and more shops, different kinds of shops are now available, and people are shifting towards the town, so the population has also increased there. Still, the trees are now being cut down from the city area.

6. How different is life in the countryside from life in the city?

Life is different in the countryside and the city area because the city is such a busy place, and people do not have much privacy there. There is too much traffic, and I think it looks so much. There are so many buildings and shops, and there is violence in villages. There are open fields and open houses; everything is so in touch with the environment and nature.
