Sample 1

Well, I would like to visit a place perfect for people to live in Chandigarh. It is a combined UT in India, Punjab, Haryana, and both. I know this place as I visited it two years ago.

It is a fantastic place to see and live. It is not so expensive, but the land rates are high here. It is not congested like other big cities like Delhi and Chennai, but it is a very good place to roam around and see. It has many opportunities for your life and is also good for studying. Many of India’s top universities are situated in Chandigarh only.

Life in Chandigarh is perfect. The people here are very helpful and nice. They don’t think of anybody as a stranger and help each other. Chandigarh is a vast city. It also has a tri-city around it: Mohali, Panchkula, and Zirakpur.

These three towns are also perfect places to live, and they are not as expensive as Chandigarh, which is the most costly of the three. All of these locations are very good to live in. They all provide us with lots of education and facilities, which is very good. These places also have a lot of greenery and aren’t congested like other places. So I think this place is better because it is good and not crowded.

Follow-ups

Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “Describe a place (city/town) that is good for people to live in”.

1. What are the differences between cities and towns?

The big difference between cities and towns is that cities have significant buildings, more malls, and shops, while villages have just houses, fields, trees, etc., so the view is different, and the people are also totally different.

People in cities are more concerned about their work; they like doing jobs and studying. In rural areas, people have to do household chores, and they have to be in the fields and do the work of farming.

2. What has happened to towns and villages in recent years in your country?

Towns have also shifted towards the more modern world, and the villages are now not that rural in new times. The villages are also turning into cities because most of the business people are approaching the village land so that they can open up new companies there because the land is not too costly there so people are opening new malls and buildings and flats and making buildings there so the villages are also growing now, everybody has electricity available, water available and mobile phone technology everything is now available in the villages.

3. What are the differences between big cities and small ones?

Big cities have as buildings, most luxurious houses and the celebrities and the big business people live in the big cities and the small towns sometimes the middle-class people can also live there in like just tiny houses, small buildings, there are not too many big malls just like simple grocery shop and stationery shops are there.

4. What factors will contribute to whether a place is good to live in?

The factors that affect a place to live in are that it should be secure. First, it should have more factors like nearby shops, grocery stores, or shopping so that everything is available nearby and the land should also not be too expensive.

5. What are the significant changes that have happened in your city?

The significant changes that have happened in my city are there like more and more shops now, different kinds of shops are now available, and people are now also shifting towards the town so the population has also increased there. Still, the trees are now being cut down from like from the city area.

6. How different is life in the countryside from life in the city?

Life is different in the countryside and the city area because the city is such a busy place, and people do not have so much privacy there. There is too much traffic, and I think it looks so much. There are so many buildings and shops, and there is violence in villages, and there are open fields and open houses; everything is so in touch with the environment and nature.
