A few individuals opine that, for all nations, food is one of the major basic economic products, and its production must be largely for local usage, and there should be nominal export of eatables to other nations. This essay fully disagrees with the abovesaid statement. Because firstly, it would lead to less variety of eatables and secondly it would adversely affect the economy.
To begin with, if all nations try to manage their food requirement locally and refrain from exporting food products, the people would have fewer food items to eat. As,there is no denying this conviction that the climate and geographical location of a nation play an imperative role in the cultivation of food products. Hence the people around the world would have limited eating choices. For example, a study conducted by Oxford University has revealed that with a reduction in food exports in many nations, people will have limited food options to pamper their appetite.
Moreover, this practice would be counterproductive for the economy of many nations. The economy of various nations thrives primarily on the export of agricultural output. And some countries have bulk agricultural production means they produce more than what they consume. With minimal exports, either their agricultural produce would go a waste or people engaged in farming would lose their jobs. In both cases, the state’s exchequer would weaken. For example, in India, a sizeable part of the population earns its livelihood from the agriculture sector.
To conclude, a massive reduction in food exports by all the nations is an imprudent approach because it would lead to a limited variety of eatables as well as a downsizing of the economy of various nations.
