Introduction

There is no denying this conviction that electricity is an integral part of our lives. We thrive primarily on it to perform our major and minor tasks adroitly.

Hence, a seamless power supply is the need of the hour in this contemporary epoch. However, on a few occasions, we encounter issues regarding its availability. Recently, I had an instance where I had to spend a night without electricity.

When and where was it?

It was one month back, I was in my native place. The local power station experienced a big fault and damaged many transformers. Due to that, electricity was not available for 24 hours.

What did you do?

The next day I had an online exam. Due to that, I had to study the whole night without electricity. To my dismay, the inverter’s battery didn’t last long. Fortunately, I had an emergency light, and I used that to study.

Another issue was the mosquitoes: due to the non-functioning of the repellent machine, they came in huge numbers. To get rid, I placed some cloves in a half-cut lemon. After that, I had a smooth night, the heat was not a problem due to cross-ventilation because the accommodation was in a hinterland.

How did you feel about it?

Initially, I was upset, but later on, I enjoyed that new experience. With determination, dedication and discipline, I studied in challenging circumstances and passed my test with flying colours.

Moreover, I realised that we must not remain dependent on technology to handle our conflicts adroitly.
