Describe a rule you dislike and would like to change in the future IELTS Cue Card

There is no denying this conviction that rules are fundamental to running a country or society efficiently; hence, they are essential. However, there are specific rules which are unwanted and must be changed. So, there is one rule I dislike and would like to change: a miner can enter a contract with anyone, and that contract can be null or void.

So this rule is for the benefit of miners and those under 18 years of age, and the law gives them a special provision that they can sign a contract with anyone, but if they default on that contract, the other person cannot file a complaint against them. So I don’t like it because this is cheating. After all, a person signing a contract must be held accountable for his actions.

No doubt this law was started keeping in mind that the brain of a minor is not that developed, so that person is bound to commit mistakes, but with time and awareness, the minors have started misusing it. So nowadays, many people commit crimes, especially minors, and they get away from it because they know that, being juveniles, they cannot be treated in a court of law. Instead, they go for rehabilitation but do not get an exemplary sentence, which could prevent other minors from doing it. So, it is setting a wrong precedent.

So this is the reason I would like to change it. So instead of 18, I think the age should be 15. Any person who enters a contract after age 15 should be held accountable because there’s a lot of awareness. By age 15, a person is competent enough to decide whether to sign a contract. So this is the law I would like to change it.
