Sample 1

Although I have met numerous people, a few of them are very interesting. Today, I would like to talk about my friend Andrew. I am happy to know him.

Andrew is my neighbour, and he is my gym partner as well. I have known him for two years. Andrew is a fitness trainer who has carved a niche in the fitness domain. Apart from this, he is a motivational speaker as well. He is a person who remains positive during tough times. I remember two years back when COVID was going on. Then, people staying in my group housing were tensed and worried about the future.

During that time, Andrew provided unabated support to everyone through his lectures. Every day, he would organize an online awareness campaign where he would teach people that COVID is a temporary thing and it would go in the future.

That is what happened. Ultimately, COVID went away. Due to these reasons, I like Andrew a lot. Even in my case, whenever I struggle to exercise or study, I meet him.

He provides me with valuable insights on how to handle my conflicts. That is why I am happy to know him. Because of the teachings he offers, I live my life with determination, dedication and discipline. I believe that such kind of people should be there in every township. They should motivate people to lead their careers towards an impressive growth trajectory.

Follow-ups

Here are some examples of follow-up questions that the examiner might ask during your speaking part 3 related to the cue card “Describe a person who you are happy to know IELTS Cue Card  ”.

How can children feel happy?

Children can feel happy if they enjoy themselves, are entertained, and are mentally excited because for children to be glad, their minds should be genuinely at peace and relaxed so that they can enjoy every aspect of their lives.

What is the difference between adult and children’s happiness?

The difference between adult and child happiness is that children find everything exciting and can laugh at anything, but adults have to think about that. They are not easily happy because they think about money and their expenditures, so they cannot be as happy as the children are. Children do not have any stress in their lives, so they always enjoy and play with them.

Does everyone share a similar definition of happiness?

No, I don’t think so. Everyone shares a similar definition because every person is different in the world, so they have other aspects of their happiness. For example, children from more affluent families are happy using toys, playing video games, etc.

While the children of poor neighbors can be happy if they eat one meal of the day because they are hunger-stricken, they can eat that. So, the happiness for both people is different, so I don’t think everyone has happiness in the same aspect.

Some people say that living in a happy city is boring. What do you think?

Living in happy cities is boring because people are locked in their houses. They are not able to enjoy the outside view of life. They go to jobs, and their food and everything gets delivered by the delivery boy or the websites online, so they do not go outside and enjoy the outside world.
