IELTS Speaking Part 1 Gifts

Q1. Do you like giving or receiving gifts?

Both giving and receiving gifts appeal to me. I get excited when I get a gift on special occasions, such as on a birthday, and I also find immense happiness while giving gifts to others and making them feel special.

Q2. What kind of gifts do you prefer?

I prefer those gifts that add value to someone’s life and utility for an extended period. Due to this reason, I like to give books and scenarios as gifts instead of perfumes and clothes.

Q3. When do people give gifts or presents in your country?

People thrive primarily on birthdays, anniversaries, wedding celebrations and festivals to give gifts or presents to others in my country.

Q4. Do you ever take a gift when you visit someone in their home? Why? /Why not?

I take a gift whenever I visit someone’s home for the first time. However, on subsequent visits, I take presents if there is some special occasion like a birthday party or wedding celebration.

Q5. When did you last receive a gift?

After the covid pandemic last year, my school friends came to my home to celebrate my birthday. During that time, I got a combined gift: a digital watch.

Q6. Do you enjoy looking for gifts for people?

Being lazy, I find it challenging to look for gifts for people. Therefore, I prefer online purchases instead of going to the market.

Q7. Do you give expensive gifts?

I refrain from giving expensive gifts because that is an imprudent approach. In addition, it could set a wrong precedent by raising the expectation of those to whom you are gifting something.

Q8. What kinds of gifts are popular in your country?

Although choice differs from person to person, the most preferred gifts are chocolates, watches and mobile phones.
