Sample Answer

My brother started a business at a very young age. He has been very close to me for so many years. We were brought up together. He does a company in transport and logistics. He has made transportation of goods very simple. He has taken care of the cost-effectivity. The logistics have made it possible for them to have it cheaper.

Even cheaper than the railways and other means of transport. My brother started the transport and logistics businesses. He was allowed in college to develop a startup model. That was a part of a competition. That’s how he started to think about various things. Although he is into many kinds of businesses, this one is very important.

Because this is one of the initial businesses he was into. He is still doing that. I want to do a business similar to my brother’s. I have already put my efforts into helping him throughout. I have a very clear idea about the whole scenario and how he began from having no funds. Then he went to various people and showed his business model. He got funds so easily because the idea was great. I want to do something shortly.

What kinds of jobs do young people not want to do in your country?

In my country, some people do not like to work hard as I have heard about other countries where people walk long distances. They don’t refrain from working hard. But in India, for some reason, people enjoy their sitting jobs.

They like to work from one desktop. Working at odd hours and different places can get a little fuzzy for them. That is what I think. In India, people don’t want a job that takes a lot of energy, time, and hard work.

Who is best at advising young people about choosing a job? Teachers or parents?

I think both. Parents have their perceptions, and they tend to mix their emotions while counselling their children. Meanwhile, teachers give them hard reality checks and facts when they counsel their children.

They let that person decide. It is always good to take the opinion of both and then decide. A person should listen to both the parents and the teachers. Both of them have different opinions, and sometimes they can be of benefit. The idea of counselling is very different for both of them.

Is money always the most important thing when choosing a job?

Money isn’t the only most important thing when choosing a job. For me, health comes first, which is a wise decision because people can make money and enjoy it if they are healthy.

Health should be physical, mental, social, and emotional. Every aspect should be included in that. Money should be given a second priority. The first should be health. And always the person should feel happy while doing the job. They should be interested in that particular job to be useful and give input to the company.

Do you agree that many people nowadays are under pressure to work longer hours and take fewer holidays?

Yes, because people have changed their lifestyles. To sustain that lifestyle, they need fuel, which is money. So, to fulfil that need, they tend to work extra hours to make good money and have a life of their choice.

What is the impact of people having poor work-life balance on society?

Poor work-life balance can lead to stress. And stress, in general, is home for many mental health issues. People don’t get time to maintain their physical health.

And that in general is the cause of unhealthy lifestyle. People who have disturbed work-life balance cannot work for longer years. Because it is a means by which people deteriorate, ultimately causing them to be unhappy and unable to work.

Could you recommend some effective strategies for governments and employers to ensure people have a good work-life balance?

So, in India, there are no limited or minimum hours for which the person can work. In other countries, the government has restricted every type of person. And they have made it very clear that if the person is a student, that person can work for 20 hours a week.

And if the person works full-time, that person can work 40 hours a week. So that is a good measure to have a good work-life balance. And enjoy the little things in life, leading to their professional and personal health growth.
