Some people believe that advertisements aimed at children IELTS Essay
IELTS ESSAY TOPIC
Some people believe that advertisements aimed at children have a poor influence on them and can affect their relationship with parents. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
A few people think the advertisements targeted at children have a poor impact on them and can influence their association with parents. This essay entirely agrees with the above statement because, it adversely impacts the children’s health, and widens the gap between them and their parents.
To begin adverts encourage children to buy those things which are detrimental to their health. They take undue advantage of the underdeveloped minds of the offspring, and by influencing them, they sell their products by exaggerating the facts. As a result, children convince their parents to buy, little knowing the disastrous impact of their purchases. America is a prime example, where obesity among teenagers is at an all-time high due to the severe effect of television commercials of fast-food chains.
Moreover, advertisements increase the gap between parents and their offspring. There is no denying this conviction that inflation has reached the tipping point in recent years. For some households, it is a challenging task to make ends meet. In such a scenario, when children indulge in impulsive purchasing after seeing the adverts on television, it creates a rift between them and their parents. For example, a recent study has concluded that whenever the launch of a new gaming product takes place, the animosity between children and parents rises.
To conclude, the primary purpose of advertisements is to create awareness among people. However, with changing times, the central focus of advertisers has changed, and they do things beyond the conventional domain to sell their products to children. Such an attitude is harmful to children’s health, and it disturbs their relationship with their parents.
