IELTS WRITING TASK 2
The government should spend more money on medical research to protect citizens’ health and less money on protecting the environment. Do you agree or disagree?
SAMPLE ANSWER
More funds should be spent on medical research to facilitate individuals’ health and less on environmental protection. And I agree with the given notion.
There are distinct reasons why the government needs to utilize more money in the medical sector. The most prominent cause is that the masses can live longer. Because when higher authorities spend more money on the healthcare sector, such as hospitals, there are higher chances that individuals can quickly cure their injuries. Unlikely even if authorities cannot utilize money in the medical sector, people can become less likely to prevent injuries. For instance, in most European nations, to alleviate the death rate, the majority of governments spend lots of funds on the health sector, and this prudent approach is effective for them. Sooner or later, it brings positive outcomes not only for the governments but also for the individuals in the long term.
Despite the above-mentioned view, the government must also spend money on environmental protection. The major one is that it would be helpful to animals and marine life. To explain, when authorities have protected the environment, most species can be preserved, which would be fruitful for humans and species. Australia is a nation where more than 30 species are protected from extinction yearly just because the government spends handsome money on the environment. As a result, it is beneficial for humanity and species.
To conclude, although there are certain benefits of spending money on environmental protection, I believe that spending money on the medical sector cannot be avoided.
